Manipur violence: Meitei women protest against brutal killing of Meitei police officer by Kuki militants.
After the shocking incident of the brutal killing of Manipur Police Chingtham Anand posted at Moreh Police Station, a large number of displaced people from Moreh presently staying in relief camp took to the street and staged a protest rally.
The irate protestors began the rally from the Relief Camp opened at Akampat Ideal Girls’ College under Imphal East district. They attempted to march towards Chief Minister Bungalow at Babupara. However, police prevented them from moving forward from the Moirangkhom area which is around a 1 km radius away from Chief Minister Bungalow.
The protestors raised various slogans and held play-card that read “Stop border cross kuki terrorist”, “change unified command of Manipur”, “immediate deployment of state force in Moreh”, “Increase and deploy state force in Moreh”, “Rapid Action Force posted in Moreh should perform their duties effectively” and so on.
Condemning the central government for allegedly taking up any proactive action to end the ongoing crisis, protestors refused to express a single word to national media.
One of the protestors who is out of anger had emotionally exploded with rage that “so many times we have express views, opinion to national media in Hindi or English. But we didn’t get any positive response or benefit from it. So we don’t want to express single words.” This was stated as a response when a media person requested to share a few words about the protest.
